Make A Thanksgiving Tablecloth

Spending time as a family giving thanks is the perfect way to spend a November evening this Fall. Preserve your blessings by getting creative with crayons and markers, and drawing on a special holiday tablecloth this Thanksgiving. Making a Thansgiving tablecloth as a family is a meaningful way to celebrate the holiday, and the finished product makes a great showpiece for your holiday table.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • White Paper Tablecloth
  • Crayons and/or Markers
  1. Step 1

Place the white paper tablecloth on your Thanksgiving table.

  2. Step 2

As a family, sit down at the table and use the markers and crayons to decorate the tablecloth for Thanksgiving. Trace your kid's hands to make a turkey, write things/people you are thankful for, etc.

  3. Step 3

Take some time to view the tablecloth as a family and share what you've drawn or written.

  4. Step 4

Snap a photo of the entire family holding up the finished tablecloth.

  5. Step 5

Serve Thanksgiving dinner on your special tablecloth. If you won't be at home for the holidays, prepare a special dinner at home and use the tablecloth at that time.

Tips & Warnings
  • After you've decorated your Thanksgiving tablecloth, fold it up neatly and present it to grandma and grandpa as a keepsake gift or to whoever is hosting Thanksgiving dinner. Be sure to include some special pictures and/or thoughts on the tablecloth for the person you are giving it to.
  • If you're hosting a large family get together this Thanksgiving, place a white paper tablecloth on the table before your guests arrive. Make crayons and markers available, and invite guests to draw pictures or write down sentiments of thanks on the tablecloth. Let everyone have a look at your family's wonderful masterpiece before serving the holiday feast.
  • Modify the Thanksgiving tablecloth family activity for any memorable occasion. Make one for Christmas, birthdays, graduations or any other special day.

on 11/18/2008 I do the same thing, but I use a white flat sheet. Everyone in attendance signs it, they they write the name of someone that they have lost and the year of their death. This gives the feeling of having all your loved ones around you.
