How to Make Cajun Party Mix

Make a zesty Cajun party mix for your holiday gatherings with family and friends this year. This tasty treat has a real zing with the addition of cayenne pepper and hot sauce. This mix will be a real hit at your next party. It is a unique version of the traditional party mix!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
  • 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
  • 1 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder
  • 4 to 8 drops hot pepper sauce
  • 1 can (about 1 & 1/4 cups)french fried onions
  • 2 & 2/3 cups Wheat squares cereal
  • 2 & 2/3 cups Corn squares cereal
  • 2 & 2/3 cups Rice squares cereal
  1. Step 1

    Preheat the oven at 350F. In a 15 x 2-inch baking pan, melt the butter or margarine in the oven. Remove pan from oven.

  2. Step 2

    Stir in the parsley,celery salt,garlic powder,cayenne and hot pepper sauce. Gradually add cereals, stirring well until all of the pieces are evenly coated with the butter and spices.

  3. Step 3

    Bake 20 to 25 minutes, stirring every 8 to 10 minutes. Remove the pan from oven. Add the french fried onions to mixture and stir well. Return to the oven and cook an additional 1 & 1/2 minutes. Spread on absorbent paper to cool. Store in a decorative airtight container. Enjoy at your next holiday party!
