Things You'll Need:
- Imagination
- Dirty Dishes
- Dusty Furniture
- Soiled Laundry
- Messy Floors
- Cleaning products and tools
-
Step 1
MAKE IT A GAME.
By timing yourself as if you're the MVP on a sports team in a championship sporting event or an undercover agent on a time sensitive assignment, you can speed through your chores in order to win the game or be the best secret agent. -
Step 2
SING A SONG.
Rock out with your favorite upbeat, high tempo music. Sing at the kitchen sink while busting suds; the acoustics will be much like those while singing in the shower where you typically sound your best! -
Step 3
DANCING WITH THE POLESTARS.
Do a little jig while sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming. You have to move your feet anyway, why not groove with it?
*A polestar is "something that is the center of attention or attraction" (dictionary.reference.com), which in this case is dirt. -
Step 4
SEARCH AND DESTROY.
Pretend you are on the hunt for a culprit. In this case, it's dust mites. Take your Swiffer Duster, Pledge and cloth, or fluffy feather duster and attack those allergens with force. Eradicate the dust enemy and stand triumphant. -
Step 5
CRYSTAL CLEAR.
Wash your windows with the intent to deceive birds and other small creatures. Set you goal to clean them so well, there is no obvious distinction separating the outside from the inside. Don't encourage birds to run into the windows though. Besides, you'll just end up having to clean them over again if you do.

on 12/27/2008 I make a game out of housework by making a stack of cards for an item of furniture or an area of the room (i.e. cabinet, microwave oven, kitchen floor...), then draw a card. Whatever I draw, that's the item that has to be cleaned up. When that's finish, I pick another card. That way I'm not tempted to put the easy stuff first.
