Here is an easy recipe for a quick desert to complete your Thanksgiving meal. It's also a great desert for the kids to help with! They will enjoy poking holes in the cake with the toothpicks.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

    Yellow cake

Use yellow cake mix and prepare as you normally would. Avoid using cake mix with pudding in the middle. As a tip to reduce calories, if your cake mix calls for oil, use applesauce instead. You won't taste it and it will be just like using oil only with was less fat!

  2. Step 2
    prepare jello

    prepare jello

While cake is baking mix jell-o and set aside. Do not refrigerate. You want the jell-o to stay in it's watery consistency.

  3. Step 3
Poke holes in the top of cake

Once cake is done and cooled for about half an hour, poke several holes in it by placing toothpicks all over the top. The more toothpicks the better and at about one inch apart.

  4. Step 4

Pour jell-o evenly over the top of the cake until all the jell-o is used.

Use cool whip as your frosting and coat cake evenly. Cut strawberries in half and add to the top of your cake in a pretty design. Place your cake in the refrigerator for about 3 hrs or overnight.

  6. Step 6

    Cut, serve and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Serve cold
  • Use other flavors of Jello for fun, example orange for Halloween and green for St Patrick's day.
  • Don't try to put cool whip on cake until it's cool to keep it from melting.
