Things You'll Need:
- Internet or a plant guide
-
Step 1
First, determine what season it is. Most plants can be divided into fall/winter and spring/summer plants. However, many plants are season specific when it comes to when they'll bloom. For example, mums bloom in the fall, while daffodils bloom in the spring.
-
Step 2
Next, think about what types of flowers you might want to plant in your yard. Consider species that you know, and what colors and sizes you might want to incorporate. If you know specific species you like, do some research and make sure they'll bloom at the right time.
-
Step 3
While at your local garden center, browse through their plant selection. Each plant, or six pack, should have a tag that will explain the cultural requirements, as well as when the plant will bloom. Read that information carefully and determine if the information for that plant matches the season for which you are wanting to plant.
-
Step 4
If you've chosen adequate plants, you should have beautiful flowers for whatever season you wish!

on 12/12/2008 I love flowers and if I could have them all year round that would be great! I have moved most of my plants inside now and they seem to be doing better inside than they did outside. I put them by a big window and I put a grow light on them so that must be what is helping.
