Cut your holiday budget by making your own Christmas decorations and tree ornaments. Recycle empty drink pouches into creative star tree ornaments for the holidays.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 empty drink pouches, cut in the bottom, then rinsed clean with soapy water and dried
  • ruler
  • scissors
  • stapler
  • 1/4 inch ribbon
  • scotch tape or similiar
  • optional: bone folder
  1. Step 1

Cut squares from the drink pouches, cutting two front and back squares from the pouches, approximately 3 1/4 inch by 3 1/4 inch. Cut below the straw hole for a better ornament.

  2. Step 2

Fold each of the 2 front drink pouch squares into five folds each. Use a clip or paper clip to hold them together. A bone folder will help the creases stay better. Make the folds in even measurements to ensure a round star in the final step.

  3. Step 3

Place both folded squares together, remove clips and staple in the center. With scissors, cut off top and bottom squares at an angle, as shown in photo.

  4. Step 4

Unfold and tape sides together from the backside of star. Trim up star ends with scissors if they appear uneven.

  5. Step 5

Tape a piece of satin ribbon to the backside of your finished ornament. Because these stars are so light, you don't need glue. Now you have a new ornament for your tree or gift package.

Tips & Warnings
  • With the backside squares, make an all silver ornament using the same directions, giving you two ornaments from two drink pouches.
  • Coordinate ribbon color with colors on the drink pouch.
