Step 1
Shop online. Besides saving money on gas and wear and tear on your vehicle (and stress to find a parking spot!), you can easily compare shop and find great deals online from the comfort of your own home. You can also have things gift wrapped, boxed and shipped directly to your doorstep. How convenient!
-
Step 2
Start your shopping early. More items will be available, and the items on sale may go very quickly.
-
Step 3
Shop from the clearance area. You may be surprised, but you might find some great gifts in the clearance area of your favorite store that are drastically marked down because they are making room for their new line of products next year.
-
Step 4
Shop at stores that may be going out of business. Especially in tough economic times, there may be stores that are selling their entire inventory at an extremely discounted price. In 2008, for example, store like Circuit City are going out of business, but are still selling their electronics at a discounted rate through Christmas.
-
Step 5
If you're a couple or a family, it can sometimes be okay to split on a gift for someone. For example, if my fiancee and I are buying a present for a friend, instead of each of buying a gift for $50 each, we can together purchase one gift for $75, and save $25 in the process.
-
Step 6
You can always make your own gifts. By being creative and resourceful, you can sometimes create a gift for little or no cost that may end up being more meaningful than anything that you could buy in any store.
