A horse halter fits around a horse's head, reaching around his muzzle and behind his ears. A lead rope is generally clipped to the halter and used to lead the horse or tie him to a hitching post. If they are not roaming free in the field or in their stalls, horses generally always wear halters. Since standard halters are fairly basic, you can make yours stand out from the crowd by personalizing it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Horse halter Sewing machine Thread Needle Ribbon
  1. Step 1

Embroider your horse's initial on the halter. While you can hand-sew the initial, you'll need to use a sturdy needle to pierce the halter's thick material. You can also set your sewing machine to the denim setting and machine-embroider the initial.

  2. Step 2

Sew pieces of colorful ribbon onto the halter. Transform a basic, uniform halter into a plethora of bright colors by alternating individual ribbon pieces.

  3. Step 3

Affix a label with your horse's name to the halter. The label should be a durable fabric material, and attached to the halter with strong stitching.

  4. Step 4

Send your horse halter to a monogram professional. A specialist can embroider anything you wish onto your halter. If you wish for long words or intricate detail, you'll likely get better results if you enlist the help of a pro.

  5. Step 5

Purchase a personalized nose band for the halter. Horse tack companies can make jeweled nose bands, which fit over the halter. Get anything you wish on the band, though most personalized nose bands feature the horse's name.

Tips & Warnings
  • Horse halters are available in a variety of colors. Choose bright, unique colors for a more personalized look.
  • Do not use staples, tacks or glue to affix anything to your horse's halter. These things could cause injury to your horse.
