This is the classic project for Thanksgiving that teachers usually have little kids do at school. It involves tracing around a hand on construction paper and cutting it out to make a turkey.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • brown construction paper
  • yellow construction paper
  • red construction paper
  • markers or crayons
  • optional decorations such as feathers or tissue paper
  • glue
  • scissors
  1. Step 1

Trace around one hand completely on a piece of construction paper, then cut it out with a scissors.

  2. Step 2

Use yellow construction paper to make and add a beak and legs.
Use red construction paper to make wavy rounding item that is known as caruncles for attaching to the beak. Glue these on in the appropriate places with some glue.

  3. Step 3

Draw in eye and beak features with black marker or crayon. Also, one might want to color in the "feathers" or fingers on the turkey. Being creative and making each feather a different color is okay. Also colored tissue paper or craft feathers can be glued on instead of coloring in the feathers.

  4. Step 4

If desired, add any other optional decorations thought of. Then enjoy the turkey creation--hang where desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • Great project to do with kids.
  • If kids do this, use a blunt tip scissors for safety.
