Things You'll Need:
- awareness of what Christmas is all about
-
Step 1
To keep Christ in Christmas make it a point to write out the word Christmas and never use "Xmas." That alone keeps Christ in Christmas. Do not fall into the trap of being politically correct and replacing Merry Christmas with Happy Holidays. Christmas naturally has Christ in it. Do not take it out.
-
Step 2
Take your family and friends to church Christmas programs, musicals and living nativity scenes. Show them that Christ is in Christmas.
If purchasing gifts for someone special, give them three gifts instead of one. Three gifts represent the gold, frankincense and myrrh that the Baby Jesus was given by the wise men. Point that out and it will make your gifts more special and sentimental and help you to keep Christ in Christmas. -
Step 3
Sing traditional religious Christmas songs and teach them to your children. Most schools no longer sing them. They also refer to the Christmas holidays as winter holidays or end-of-the year holidays. Refer to them as Christmas in order to keep Christ in Christmas.
-
Step 4
If you have children, have a birthday party for Jesus. That is something they can relate to and easily understand. Read them the Biblical account of Jesus' birth.
-
Step 5
Be sure to constantly remind your family and friends what the true meaning of Christmas is. Do not let all the busy schedules and holiday cheer take away from the real reason for the season.
