Everyone needs to count days or do a day count every once in a while. Doing a day countdown to a long awaited event is exciting. There are several ways to count the days until an event or count the days between two dates.

    To do a day count or count the days until an event you could use a calendar that has the days already numbered from 1 to 365/366. Simply locate the day of year for the two dates and subtract. Calendars often have yearly day count in small type next to the larger bolder date. Not all calendars will have a day of the year count.

    A day countdown can be easily done online with a date calculator. There are a few websites listed under resources below that will allow you to calculate the day count between two dates. Just click on the recourse and enter the dates you would like to count days in between.

    Use a normal calendar to count days. Mark the day where you want to begin and begin counting every day until you reach the date where you want to end to find your day count.

    Use math to do a day count. Remember the rhyme: "Thirty days hath September, April, June, and November. All the rest have thirty-one,
    except February, which has twenty-eight days so fine, but on Leap Year has twenty-nine." Add the total days of each full month plus the partial days of each part month.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you count days do it in a quiet room away from distractions.
  • A day countdown can be especially fun at Christmastime.
  • A day count of school days until the 100th day of school is popular.
  • Count the days between holidays is a fun activity for children.
