This article discusses how to use natural diuretics in a safe and effective manner to clear up urinary tract infections and cleanse the urinary system (and body) of other substances.

Begin by drinking a lot of water. The amount of water recommended as a minimum to drink daily is 64 oz (or 1/2 a gallon). Remember, this is the MINIMUM. If you aim for a whole gallon, you're more likely to get at least the minimum amount. If you can do the entire gallon, great! A good way to do this is carry around a gallon jug full of water. Who wants to carry around a full, heavy, gallon of water all day long!?! So you will drink it to lighten your load. Drink BEFORE you get thirsty.

  2. Step 2

Eat foods that promote diuresis. These include fruits and vegetables with a high water content such as cucumber, celery, asparagus, zucchini, grapes, dandelion greens, and watermelon. Don't over do it. Maybe have one or two of these throughout the day. Fresh and raw will be more effective than cooked. And better for your body too!

  3. Step 3

If you need something more potent than foods that promote diuresis, try taking a natural supplement. The most popular of which is cranberry tablets. These can be found in a number of health food stores and some pharmacies. Also dandelion and the herb Uva Ursi are both excellent supplements to help cleanse the urinary tract by promoting diuresis.

Tips & Warnings
  • Supplements are not an exact science. EVERYONE will have a slightly different experience than the next person, so please listen to your body. If you feel nauseous, discontinue use of supplements. If you have to use the bathroom, don't wait. Forcing yourself to hold it can be damaging to the urinary system.
