If you workout hard in the gym you should follow these tips to boost the recovery process. It is during the recovery process that new muscle is being built.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Immediately after the workout a high quality post workout meal is a must. A whey protein shake and some high glycaemia carbs will help you pack on the muscle. This meal should be consumed within 30 minutes post workout for best results.

  2. Step 2

Supplement fish oil. Fish oil is readily available and will decrease inflammation (soreness) the next day. Also, fish oil may help lower stress levels and is heart healthy.

  3. Step 3

Get the proper amounts of sleep. This is very important because while you sleep your body releases growth hormone ( muscle builder ). Eight to ten hours for athletes that are training.

  4. Step 4

Don't max out every workout! If you continue to work to failure on every set you will start to not gain muscle mass. Your body will not be able to use it's strongest muscle fibers and your protein and carb reserves will be depleted. Once every couple of weeks is a better idea to see what your max is.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try also taking a cold shower and after one minute switch to a hot shower and then back again. This should help flush some nutrients into the muscles and help recovery time.
