How to Reset an iPod Touch

This is about unfreezing and resetting your iPod Touch. These are basic troubleshooting instructions you should be able to accomplish with minimal frustration.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Make sure the battery is not dead. You may need to recharge the battery before resetting your iPod Touch.

  2. Step 2

    If the screen is frozen, first try to unfreeze your iPod Touch by pressing and holding the home button for 6 seconds or more. The home button will be centered near the bottom on the front of the iPod Touch. The application you were using should close. If it doesn't, then follow the next instructions and reset your iPod Touch.

  3. Step 3

    Locate the sleep/wake button on the top of the iPod Touch. Locate the home button, which will be centered near the bottom on the front of the iPod Touch. Push both buttons simultaneously until the apple logo appears, then let go. The iPod Touch should now be resetting.
