How to get your Hotmail to work with Firefox on Ubuntu

If you use Ubuntu for your desktop, you may have noticed that the new Hotmail update (from October/November 2008 release) disabled the ability to use Hotmail with your Firefox web browser. Here is a quick and easy way to fix this so that you can once again enjoy Hotmail with your Ubuntu desktop.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Any version of Firefox web browser
• Ubuntu

1. Open your Firefox web browser and in the address bar type:
   about:config

2. Click on the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button (because you will be careful!!)

3. Next to Filter, type "general.useragent.vendor" and hit the enter key. You should see one line under the Preference Name below.

4. You want to change the value for the Vendor from "Ubuntu" to "Firefox". You can do this by double clicking on the value "Ubuntu". This should bring up a small window. Change the value to "Firefox" in this window and click on the "OK" button. Close your Firefox web browser and reopen it. Enjoy Hotmail once again!
