Avoid harsh colors. Black, green, red and violet eye shadows can age you faster than any other type of makeup because the make you look harsh. Try softer versions of these colors such as gray, sea foam, pink, and lavender.

Use brushes to apply makeup. Brushes give you a light, even layer and use less makeup, giving you a softer, prettier look.
