Go Green When Decorating Your Christmas Tree
Go Green When Decorating Your Christmas Tree

Have you decided to go "Green" and have a more environmentally friendly lifestyle? Did you know you can go green when decorating your Christmas tree? You can and here's how.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • popcorn
  • berries
  • seeds
  • dry cereal
  1. Step 1

If you have started to go green for the holidays by buying your first artificial Christmas tree then congratulations. Fake trees have come a very long way since they first became popular with our grandparents. Some even look more real than the real thing. But if for you Christmas just really isn't Christmas without getting a real tree then here are some ideas for decorating them in a more environmentally friendly way. It will really make a difference when it's time for that tree to be recycled.

  2. Step 2

Try decorating with garland you make from the traditional popcorn and berries. If you are looking for some extra color for your tree, try dried cereals like Froot Loops or fuit flavored Cheerios. This can be easily removed and left outside for your fine feathered friends or can also be easily composted in your garden.

  3. Step 3

If you have children who like to be involved in the tree decorating process, why not go the extra mile and bake cookie ornaments. They can be cut into any holiday shape and decorated to match you holiday decor. Just remember to poke a small hole at the top of each cookie before baking so you have a way to string them onto your tree once they have baked.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have four legged pets you may want to avoid the cookie ornaments. You may wake up one morning with a bare tree and a dog who has one bad stomach ache!
