Things You'll Need:
- Back Pack
- Clothes
- Hygeine Bag
- Frommers Peru Travel Book
-
Step 1
The first thing you need to do in order to travel to Peru is develope a plan. Decide what you want to do and where you want to go. Other things to consider are what types of places do you want to stay. Are you going to camp outside or stay in hotels. Alot of this depends on your budget and sense of adventure. I reccomend getting Frommers Travel Book on Peru. Inside, they have iteneraries for different types of trips and different lengths. Additionally, they have reccomendations for accomodations and give specific guidance for different areas.
-
Step 2
Next, you need to purchase your Airline tickets. Most international flights fly into Lima. However, Peru is very mountanous and difficult to travel long distances without flying. These isn't a whole lot to do or see in Lima. I reccomend getting an additional flight from Lima to Cuzco. Once you are in Cuzco, you can purchase the rest of your travel in country if you are planning on using buses, cabs or trains.
-
Step 3
Next you must decide what to pack. I reccomend packing extremely light. Depending on the weather and if you plan on camping, your packing list will curtail to your needs. You should get a back pack that reflects your packing needs. It is possible to travel with a small or medium size back pack if you plan on staying in hotels. You will need a large if you plan on camping.
-
Step 4
Pack your bags by putting the heaviest items closest to your back. You can save room by only bringing the shoes you are wearing and only packing 1 extra pair of pants. Pack high performance clothing, such as body armor, because it dries faster and is more comfortable. Bring 3 or 4 different shirts, and several pairs of socks. Wear shoes that are comfortable and trendy. It's ok to wear the same shirts over again. Since you are traveling, it is unlikely that you will see the same people.
-
Step 5
By bringing a small to medium backpack, you will be able to carry on your luggage and avoid the airlines losing it. Also, it will save you money on any charges for checked luggage. Bring small hygeine items. The smaller it is, the lighter it is. Small weight adds up over time, and Airports generally will not let you carry on anything over 4oz.
-
Step 6
Study phrases in Spanish and bring along a small translation book. Spanish is a very easy language, and you can learn to get by with very little effort.
-
Step 7
Once you have developed your itenerary and you are packed, you are ready to go to Peru. Follow the steps in the Frommers book as they will be able to assist you in how much cabs cost and what to pay for lodging. They update there books yearly so information is very current.
