Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose? It's time to make the hearth and home all warm and fuzzy! You can do it by combining a bit of the outdoors with today's technology.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • About two dozen pine cones
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Ribbons and bows
  • Decorative candles
  1. Step 1

Gather pine cones from your yard. If you don't have any, just ask a neighbor or visit your local park.

Put the pine cones in a plastic bag and put it in your freezer for about a week. This will kill off any nasties that may have come along for the ride.

Using a large bowl as a guide, glue the pine cones together end to end with a hot glue gun and mold them to take the shape of the bowl. While the glue is still warm they are easy to shape.

  4. Step 4

Stack the pine cones on top of each other, rotating them end to end and meshing the cones into each other until you have the size and shape you like.

  5. Step 5

Decorate the pine cone bowl on the outside with ribbons or baby's breath in colors to match your table decor.

  6. Step 6

Add a flamelss candle to the center and enjoy! Battery operated candles from Candle Impressions are awesome for safe holiday decorating. You can find tea light candles, pillar candles, and scented candles!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have pine allergies like me, make sure you wear gloves and wash your hands when you're done.
  • Never use a real candle with flammable items like pine cones, ribbons and bows.
  • Be careful when moving your centerpiece as it is a fragile creature!
