How to Make the Freshest Easiest Guacamole
Guacamole is a rich dip first prepared in Mexico, first made by the Aztecs in the 16th century. It combines avocados, lime, tomatoes, onions, garlic and fresh herbs and spices for a rich, tangy flavor. Guacamole is traditionally served as an appetizer with tortilla chips or as a toppings on entrees like tacos and burritos. Things You'll Need
- 3 Haas avocados
- 1 lime
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp. cayenne
- 1/2 medium diced onion
- 2 Roma diced tomatoes
- 1 tbsp. chopped cilantro
- 1 clove minced garlic

Cut, peel and remove seeds from avocados. and juice the lime.

Scoop avocado pulp and lime juice into a bowl and toss well. Drain the leftover lime juice and save it for later.

Mash in salt, cumin, and cayenne with a potato masher. Mash avocados thoroughly for smoother guacamole.

Fold in diced onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic.

Let the guacamole sit for 1 hour at room temperature, or refrigerate for 1 hour before serving for best flavor.

Tips & Warnings
Try adding minced jalapeno to taste for a spicier dip.
Leave avocado pits in guacamole to keep it looking fresher longer.
