Let's face it, bad things happen in this world - and they happen to good people. Maybe you lost your job, tragically lost a loved one, had a house fire or lived through a hurricane that destroyed all your belongings, cherished keepsakes, and all that you had invested in that home for as long as you had lived there. Maybe you've suddenly lost a pet, come down with a horrific disease - or even worse, lost your child to one. Perhaps you barely escaped domestic violence... So, how do you go on? How do you live after enduring these most horrible circumstances? How do you put a smile on your face each morning and go out and face the world, ready to get things done and be the productive person you've always been? Let's take a look at exactly how you can accomplish just that!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Faith
  • Hope
  • Positive Attitude
  • Notebook
  • Pen
  1. Step 1
    Faith in Prayer
    Faith in Prayer

Dig deep and find any faith you've ever had. Did you used to attend a church of some sort? Have you ever prayed? If you've lost touch with your faith and prayer life, or if you've never had any faith or a prayer life, now is a good time to search your heart and consider this path.

  2. Step 2
    Be Thankful
    Be Thankful

Grab your notebook and pen and write down all the things you have to be thankful for: You're alive, for one. Do you have a place to live? Can you talk, walk, run, sing, swim, live, love, build things? Do you have family, children, parents, siblings to love? Can you see, hear, touch, breathe, feel? Can you drive; do you have a car? Can you paint, write, or anything creative? What is your talents? Do you have money in the bank? Even in the bad times, there are still blessings in all our lives... What are you blessed with?

  3. Step 3
    Stay Positive
    Stay Positive

It's so easy to allow negative thoughts to come into your head as you walk through the trials of life. But you don't have to give into them. Stay positive. Think good thoughts. Use your notebook to write down positive thoughts. Place inspiring quotes around you so you'll be encouraged each time you read them. There's always a silver lining - even to the darkest of clouds. It's your job to find it.

  4. Step 4
    Support Groups
    Support Groups

Join or form a support group with others who are in a similar situation. You can lift each others' spirits, help each other out, and you'll have something to look forward to when each meeting is coming up. You'll all have something in common, so it will be easier to talk about your feelings and share what you've been going through. The others will understand - they've been going through the same thing as well.
