Step 1
Set a goal. You can start a gratitude journal, or try to find so many things a day to be thankful for. With the news always telling us what is wrong, it's difficult to find things to be thankful for unless you make it a priority to do so.
-
Step 2
Notice the little things. So often we focus on the fact that we haven't won an emmy award, or we don't live in a mansion. Find a hundred little things to make you happy. Surround yourself with art, books, & family & friends.
-
Step 3
Take time out. Go for a nature walk, or just take a few seconds to breathe. It may be difficult to be grateful simply because you don't have the time or you are always on the go.
-
Step 4
Recognize how you feel. Does being thankful make you smile? Does it make your day go better? How has your mood changed? If it has a positive effect & you recognize that, you're more likely to be in the habit.

on 11/27/2008 I think we tend to put too much emphasis on monetary things instead of what is really important and that is FAMILY and good health. Thanks for this and I hope enough people read this and take it to heart and ENJOY what they HAVE and stop focusing on what they DONT have....
