Step 1
Schedule: Write out realistic monthly and daily schedules. Start this with a to-do-list and then rank these by priority. Then put them on the schedule. Accept that some of the things that are lower priority may not get done by you. For those things be open to hiring help such as a maid.
-
Step 2
Separate: Make sure that you turn off cell phones, laptops, and PDAs after work hours. This will help separate work from home time and prevent work from intruding.
-
Step 3
No: Learn that it is totally fine to say no. You are probably accustomed to saying this to your children, so now say it to your colleagues and child's acquaintances. Accept that there may be times when you can not do everything on your plate let alone take on more. Remember the only people you need to take care of are your family and yourself. Be willing to let others know you are a working mom and a parent.
