Step 1
Find the schematics. There are several places to find Rock-It-Launcher Schematics. The first is in Megaton: Moira sells them for 800-1300 caps (depending on your Barter skill.) You can also kill her for the Schematics (and in doing so, fight her Mercenary guard) or you can steal them off of her if your Sneak skill is high.

Step 2
The Schematics can also be found in the Armory in Rivet City, and from Crazy Wolfgang’s caravan. You can buy it from Wolfgang, kill him for it or follow him on his caravan route and wait for something else to kill him, then take it from his dead hands.

Step 3
Find the parts. Building the Rock-It-Launcher requires a vacuum cleaner, a leaf blower, a firehose nozzle and a conductor. Most of these items can be found in the Silverdale School and the Super Duper Mart. Anything you still need can be purchased from Moira in Megaton.

Step 4
Find a workbench. There are several of these around, but the easiest one is again, in Megaton. Find Moira in Craterside Supplies. Look to the left of her, near her Mercenary guard. Just to the right of where he is standing, there is a workbench against the wall. You are free to use it at any time.

Step 5
Build your Rock-It-Launcher. Once you have accumulated the parts, the Schematic and found a workbench, use the workbench and select the Rock-It-Launcher from the list of craftable items. Congratulations, you now have a cannon that runs on garbage!

Step 6
Load your Rock-It-Launcher with junk you find in the wastes. Burnt Books, Tin Cans, Iron, Lawn Mower Blades…just about any old trash can be loaded into the Rock-It-Launcher and shot at your foes. Note that the heavier the object, the more damage it does.
