Caramel Chocolate bars. Need I say more? YUM!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 9 x 13 pan
  • double boiler
  • 1 bag of caramels
  • 1/3 C evaporated milk
  • 1 pkg German chocolate cake mix
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • 1 C chopped nuts
  • 3/4 C melted butter
  • 1 C chocolate chips
  1. Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 pan.

  2. Step 2

Combine 1 bag of caramels (the cube kind) and 1/3 cup of evaporated milk in the top of a double boiler. Melt the caramels and milk. Stir so it is well mixed.

  3. Step 3

In a large bowl combine 1 package of German chocolate cake mix, 2-3 tbsp of milk, 1 cup of chopped nuts (use your favorite), and 3/4 cup of melted butter. Mix together.

  4. Step 4

Press half of the dough into the pan. The other half of the dough will be used for the topping. Bake for 6 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Remove from oven and sprinkle 1 cup of chocolate chips over dough. Spread caramel mixture over that. Crumble the remaining dough on top of the caramel.

  6. Step 6

    Bake an additional 15-18 minutes.

  7. Step 7

Cool 30 minutes so the caramel layer can set. Cut into bars.
