If you like rhubarb, you'll probably like rhubarb sauce. Rhubarb is a plant usually sold in 2 to 2 1/2 lb. bunches. It's usually extremely tart and is commonly served in pies, puddings, breads and as a sauce. The sauce can be used over pound cakes and ice cream. This version combines the rhubarb with strawberries.   • Rhubarb
  • Sugar

Instructions

      Clean the rhubarb and cut it into 1/2 inch pieces.

      Measure the rhubarb into a large pot 2 cups at a time.

      Add 1 cup of water to the pot for every 6 to 8 cups of rhubarb.

      Cook the rhubarb over medium heat until it is soft.

      Add 6 to 8 sliced strawberries for each 6 to 8 cups of rhubarb. Continue cooking until the rhubarb and strawberries blend.

      Add 1 cup of sugar to the mix for every 2 cups of rhubarb. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Continue cooking and stirring the sauce until it gets thick.

  • Keep refrigerated.

  • Sauce can be frozen.
