Import contacts (INCLUDING the ADDRESS FIELD) from another email program, contact manager, or PIM, in to Gmail's contacts. You may be experiencing a problem where the street address field is excluded from records during importation to Gmail's contacts. Here is the solution: Switch (temporarily) from Gmail's "Newer Version" to the "Older Version" and then do the import. If you like, switch back to the Newer Version when done. The addresses will appear.

Difficulty: Easy

Tips & Warnings
  • Access your Gmail Contacts quickly! Turn on Keyboard Shortcuts (under Settings). This allows you to easily open contacts in two keystrokes: G, C. (Go to, Contacts). Plenty of other keyboard shortcuts will be enabled as well. Very handy.
  • If you are importing into an address book with pre-existing contacts, you may end up with duplicate records. Delete older contacts before importing updated or revised contacts.
  • If you wish to entirely refresh your contact list with a fresh, new list, then carefully delete ALL current contacts from Gmail before importing the new list. Just make sure you have everyone you want in the list to be imported.
  • There's nothing to delete if you are adding unique, new contacts.
