Want to be different this year? Then start with the Christmas wreath hanging on the front door! Or the porch, or tree, or chair or anywhere else you find to welcome your guest.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Just about anything will work.
  1. Step 1

The Christmas wreath is the welcome of the season and the first item your guest will see when they come to visit. So lets make it different from years past. Something unique is a great way to keep the conversation flowing even for the most shy among us.
Most wreaths are made in a circle with evergreen or grapevines you can buy just about anywhere. But this year we are going to do something no one will forget. It can be small or large. So get ready to create.

  2. Step 2

Starting with small we are going to use our favorite evergreen. Cut tiny portions from the tree. Depending on the type of evergreen you choose cut you green from about 3 inches in length to 5 inches in length. Separate the green and work on one at a time. Start by tying small ribbons at the top of the green with a loop at the top to hang by. Stream ribbons in various colors or one color from each little green. You can use standard Christmas ribbon or ribbon with sparkles. Use push pins around your front door frame and hang all one by one to surround the door. In the center hang one single little green with extra long ribbons.
You can make as many of these tiny wreath as you want and cover everything on your front porch, just your door, a rocking chair for Santa or give them to neighbors and friends with a smile.

  3. Step 3

So you have been shopping and have an over load of plastic bags in white! Seems a waste to just throw them out. Now you don't have too. Take a bag or two and crumble them together in the form of a ball. Tie a ribbon around the middle tightly. Make several of these ball type items. When finished with enough for the size you would like starting tying the ends together until you have the length of your choice.
Now you can bring it into a circle and top with a large red bow. Add bits of green and ribbons or candy canes. It is beautiful, cost wise and very usable and a great recycling use.
The idea can be applied for a plastic garland for your front porch and outdoor trees.

  4. Step 4

Do you have a dolls around you loved but is gathering dust from days gone by? Bring her out! It's time you let her light shine no matter what size she is. A medium to large dolls is best, but any size will work. Wrap the doll in red Christmas ribbon. Gather a few small greens from your tree and tie together at the limb pieces. Make sure you use strong ribbon. Now tie the small limbs to the back of the doll like angel wings. She is ready to hang on the front door.
If you have small dolls then use in combinations of 3 for a great grouping affect.

  5. Step 5

Too many mugs from Christmases past? Now is the time to put them to great use for decorating. Fill each mug with small candy canes. On each handle tie a ribbon with streamers toward the top portion of the mug. On the front door use push pins in a circle or design of your choice. Hang the mugs so they are upright enough to hold the candy canes in place to create a wreath effect. You can add bits of greenery or cinnamon sticks for a more Christmas feel.

  6. Step 6

These are just a few ideas. You can create more with used tee shirts, toys, dishes, tools or just about anything you have around the house. Add dry plants you find in the yard and you'll be the sight of the block in your home town. Good luck for the new year and Merry
    Christmas!
