Step 1
Many moons ago I asked my parents for a drum kit for Christmas and got one! I taught myself to play and that started my love affair with drumming! Before trying to play the drums, it's helpful to have a little background in drumming. It's o.k. if you've never actually played on a drum kit before. If you've ever tapped your fingers along to your favorite song, you've played the drums! If you have rhythm, you've got what it takes to play Rock Band.
-
Step 2
Keep your hands and wrists loose while using the sticks. That is one of the very first rules I learned in drumming and one of the most important. Not only does it relieve pressure, it helps you maintain your beat.
-
Step 3
Start with either the Easy or Medium level. Try to focus on the songs that you can play well on each level. If you get stuck on a song, skip that and finish the others in your level, then come back to the more difficult ones.
-
Step 4
A lot of times, the bass drum notes will trip up players. Focus on being very strong with the sticks and then add bass after you've mastered the sticks.
-
Step 5
When you use the practice mode, use it on full speed. This will get you used to the pace you will need to master the song.
-
Step 6
There are options to customize the song. Remove the crowd noise and the singing if they distract you. This will allow you to focus more on the rhythm and the drum beat you are creating.
