Step 1
First of all, determine what craft you'd like to take up. What materials do you enjoy working with? Glass, paper, fabric, yarn? Even larger items like furniture and stained glass pieces can make for a fun and productive hobby. Once you've decided what it is you'd like to learn, go to Step 2.
-
Step 2
If you are a beginner, begin off with a starter's kit, found in any craft store. Most crafts have kits available for those looking to start as novices, and some even come with instructional DVDs. I would also recommend researching your craft right here at ehow.com, where videos and articles walk you through the process until you feel confident enough to do it yourself!
-
Step 3
Once you've become confident in your abilities, now is the time to find your inner crafty diva! Move on to a larger, more challenging project and place it in your home as your first big piece! It will surely be a conversation starter and solid proof of how crafty you are!
-
Step 4
Start making pieces as gifts. The earlier you get started before the holidays, the better, so start embroidering those snowflake towels in May! Your friends will be surprised and honored that you took the time to get crafty for them.
-
Step 5
Host a craft night in your home. Invite other crafters to come and share their secrets and their stash! You can make it a monthly meeting, and there is no doubt that your talent will improve with each get-together.
-
Step 6
Open shop! Create an inventory of your goods and sell them on etsy.com or open a stall at the local outdoor market, where artists and crafters often sell their goods. You never know, this may become more than just a hobby!
-
Step 7
As your home begins to showcase more and more of your creations, you can truly be proud of your inner craftiness. Starting a blog is also a great way to post pictures of these little gems and get feedback. Soon, you will be a proud member of the Club of Crafty Divas!
