Things You'll Need:
- Will Power
- A sense of reality
-
Step 1
Most people start off the first of the year by making a list of their new year's resolutions. This is a good idea but don't get carried away. If your list contains 3,4 or even 5 "life changing" resolutions you are in over your head. Stick to one, at the most two, life changing resolutions. This way you will be able to focus all of your attention on one thing instead of 4 or 5. If you want to add a few small resolutions that is fine.
-
Step 2
When you are done with your list of resolutions, decide if you are ready for a life changing event. Writing them down is one thing, acting on them is another. Make sure that you are ready and go for it!
-
Step 3
After you decide what resolutions you are willing to stick with, make a plan. Prioritize your resolutions and make a schedule. Keep your goals small at first and gradually work your way up. By doing this you won't become frustrated and over worked and decide to give up.
-
Step 4
Now i will give some examples. If one of your resolutions is too maintain a healthy diet, avoid fast food. If you have the temptation for some greasy goods, try eating some fruit. Doing this will usually help you take your mind off other foods, like fast food. This may sound strange but it seems to work.
-
Step 5
Going to the gym is another big resolution. When you first start off, take it slow. The first time going back to the gym can be real hard! You are sore, tired and frustrated. Give it time, it will pay off! Whatever you do don't stop going! Over time it will get easier and easier and eventually become part of your everyday.
-
Step 6
Good luck to all!

on 11/15/2008 Having a plan is so important to keeping your resolutions. I like to use a mind map strategy for mine.
