If you are sitting in your computer chair right now look at the way you are sitting. Are you shoulders back? Are your feet flat on the floor in front of you? Do you have a foot rest? If you answered no to these questions, this article is for you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer chair
  1. Step 1

Have you ever felt fatigue or pain while sitting at your desk at home or work? If you have you are not alone. Improper sitting can lead to bone and joint pain, muscle fatigue and spine problems.

  2. Step 2

The first thing you want to do is maintain the normal curve in your back. You can do this by evenly distributing your weight on both hips. You don't want to force your back straight, you want to straiten it naturally.

  3. Step 3

After you find a good sitting position for natural back alignment, reposition your knees. You want to make sure your knees are slightly higher than your hips. If this is not possible, get a foot stool and set it on the floor. You legs should be straight and NOT crossed. Keep your feet flat on the floor of on the foot rest.

  4. Step 4

Take a break from writing your latest article. You want to avoid sitting in the same position for more than 30 minutes.

  5. Step 5

If you have a pivot or twisting chair, don't turn at the waist. This is not good for your back. Instead move your whole body when you turn away from your desk.

  6. Step 6

When you stand up, move to the front of your chair. Plant your feet firmly and stand straight up. Avoid pushing yourself up and bending forward. After you stand do 10 back bends and take a short break.

Tips & Warnings
  • This will take some time to get used too. Keep trying and don't give up. You will notice a difference very quickly.
