How to Throw a Gyro Ball
The gyro ball is a baseball pitch made famous in Japan. Boston Red Sox star Daisuke Matsuzaka may be the most famous pitcher to have been reported using the gyro ball during games. The unusual break of the gyro ball makes it almost impossible to hit. It looks so enticing until it gets to the plate, though, that almost no batter can lay off the pitch. With this method and a little bit of practice, you will be able to confuse batters with your own gyro ball.
Instructions

1
Put your index and middle finger together.
-
2
Place your two fingers over the two seams so that your fingers are perpendicular to the seams.
-
-
3
Place your ring and pinkie fingers together. Keep them separate from your index and middle fingers (like the Vulcans in Star Trek). Put these two fingers around the baseball as you keep them together.
-
4
Begin your throwing motion to the plate. As you get to your release, turn your wrist so that it twists out just as it would if you were throwing a football.
-
5
Release the ball as your wrist finishes its outward rotation. This will put the spin on your gyro ball.

Tips & Warnings
Throw the gyro ball with the same velocity as you would a regular fastball. The speed of the pitch is one of the things that makes the gyro ball so hard to hit.
