Step 1
Load the butcher paper roll onto the holder with the assistance of another person. Butcher paper rolls are large, quite heavy, and can fall out of your hands and cause you harm if you choose to load them without help. Slide the paper onto the rod so that the roll will feed paper over the top of itself. Snap the end of the rod into the butcher paper unit so that the roll is now securely in place.
-
Step 2
Pull the sheet of paper under the metal arm, as you would lay your arm on the table. The metal arm should be resting on top of the flap of paper so that you may pull as much of the paper as you would like and tear away.
-
Step 3
Pull out the necessary length of paper. The roll should smoothly release the paper, and the metal arm should keep tension on the roll. Measure how much you will need so that there will be no wasted paper cut off of the roll.
-
Step 4
In an upward motion begin to tear the paper along the metal bar from the right-hand side. A fast and smooth motion is best for an even tear. Do not pull the roll forwards as though you are pulling more paper, but instead hold the paper at a 75-degree angle upwards and lift your right hand higher until the corner begins to tear. Continue to pull the paper all the way across until there is a smooth and even tear on the large sheet of paper.

Step 5
Pull out a small tab of the butcher paper for the next use. Pulling about a 2-inch piece out will make fast work for the next person who wishes to use a sheet of butcher paper.
