      Gather information about the island, recreation activities and the Kiawah Island Resort. For boating and fishing, visit the Bohicket Marina for boat rentals and fishing. If you want to stay on land, visit the Night Heron Park, a nature center where guided tours are available to explore the natural landscape, birds, wildlife and vegetation. You can even arrange to go horseback riding at nearby Seabrook Island. Activities for kids at Night Heron Park include Kamp Kiawah during the summer. Be sure to spend time on the beautiful beach, swimming or collecting sea shells.

      When you get hungry, try the The Privateer and Rosebank Farms Cafe at Bohicket Marina. Visit Freshfields Village on Shipwatch Drive in the Straw Market at West Beach Village, just before the security gate to Kiawah Resort. You'll find locally grown produce, handmade preserves, arts and crafts, souvenirs and a few restaurants that offer bagels for breakfast to freshly caught seafood for dinner. If you drive to the Shops at the Sanctuary, you may enjoy browsing an art gallery and a few other exclusive stores. There is even a Christmas store called the Christmas Mouse. Stop at the General Store by the main Kiawah Island security gate for gas, fried chicken and other essentials for a day visit.

      Take advantage of all the activities. Keep in mind that if you're a golfer, Kiawah Island Resort has championship courses. If you like festivals and events, come during the Annual Island House Tours when some of the island's most magnificent homes are decorated for the holidays and open to the public for tours. Other events to include in your day visit are the Holiday Festival in Freshfields Village, the Annual Dog Halloween Parade, the Symphony at the Sanctuary or the Mingo Point Oktoberfest.
