How to Do your Hair With a Crochet Hook
If you have long locks, then you know how easily they can get in your way. You hair can be in your eyes, lying across the book you're trying to read or within reach of your toddler as you hold her. To get your hair out of the way, try pulling it back into a bun then securing it with a crochet hook or knitting needle. It's simple to do and works quite well. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Pull all of your hair back to the crown of your head or the base of your neck, depending on your preference, as if you were going to put it in a ponytail.
-
2
Hold your hair into the ponytail with one hand, and with the other, twist the tail over roughly two or three times at the base to tighten and coil the hair right at the scalp. Hold this firmly to keep it from unwinding.

3
Grab the ends of the tail and wind them around the twist until the tail reaches desired length. Cup the bun with one hand then move the other out of the way.
-
4
Pick up the crochet hook with your free hand. Push the hook end underneath and back out a small group of hair at one end of the bun toward the top of your head, then push the hook at an angle through the center of the bun. Twist the hair on the needle slightly to tighten its hold, if necessary. Move any loose tails close to bun then guide the hook over top of them to keep them in place. Push the hook through another bunch of hair on the opposite side of the bun.

5
Push any stray hairs into the bun. Insert another hook from the opposite side of your head in the same manner if your hair still feels loose or if you prefer the look of two crochet hooks in your hair. If you left a tail, use your hands to move the hairs where you want them to fall.

My hair is a bit short, and this would probably look funny on me being a middle aged guy, but good article.
