How to Help Needy Families This Holiday Season

Let's face it the economy is in trouble this year. Lot's of families are deciding not to do Christmas this year. I have been where they are . If you know a family that could use help there are a few steps you could take to help make their holidays special.

1. Start as early as you can to find help for the family. There is so many in need this year .

2. Find out what the family needs are and some of their wants. You will need a list.

3. Call your local Salvation Army if there is one near you. They always help families in need. Now they do have limited spaces.

4. Call around to your local churches. Allot of churches this season step in take donation to help needy families.

5. Call your local Social Services office they usually have a list of business or companies that want to help. I know in my area we have some big companies that help families at Christmas time.

6. Call your local television station. Some of them have toy drives for kids. Now I think most of them are to help kids in foster home' s and kids who don't have a family. Still call and see they could always direct you to someone that could help.

7. Call your local radio station .I know in my area some of our radio station help with Christmas.

8. You yourself could take some of the items off the list and get them yourself. You could get your friends involved and help.

Tips & Warnings

• There are so many ways you could help a family in need this holiday season. I know when i was in need years ago I was so surprised on how many ways they went to help me. Don't give up there's got to be a way to help. If there is not a family in need that you know always donate toys, books, clothes, money ,etc. to you local organization that help families for the holidays. The gift of giving is a wonderful feeling to have and share.
• Don't let the family know you are trying to help them for the holidays. Allot of people don't like taking charity because they feel liked they failed in taking care of there family. We know that's not the case we all need help time to time. You don't want to get their hopes up and then make them sad if you could not find help for them.
