place IE7 Icon on Windows Vista Desktop

Windows Vista does not show the IE 7 icon on the desktop. It' usually on the Start menu, but occasionally the icon is not there. If the icon is not there you will have trouble accessing the Internet. This is expecially true for novice Internet users. Below is a simple method that shows you how to place the IE icon on your desktop. Follow the steps and you'll be surfing the Internet in a matter of a few minutes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Windows Vista
  1. Step 1

Right-click on a blank area of the desktop. This will give you a menu screen.

  2. Step 2

From the menu screen, select "new", then select "shortcut."

  3. Step 3

Copy and Paste this into the Location (the location may already be there, if not you'll need to copy and paste it):

    “C:\Program Files\InternetExplorer\iexplore.exe”

  4. Step 4

Press next and give your new path to Internet Explorer a name. You can name the location, Internet Explorer, or IE, or whatever you wish, and you're done.
