Make a Healthy Caramel Banana Milkshake

A milkshake is not low calorie, but that doesn't mean you can't pack it with nutrients. Here is my own unique recipe for a caramel banana milkshake that is both delicious and nutritious!

Please note: I highly recommend using the particular instant breakfast mix mentioned. Besides adding taste to the milkshake, it has a ton of really great vitamins and minerals - and also 5 grams of protein per whole packet.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • blender
  • milkshake glass
  • 3/4 cup 1% milk
  • 1/2 cup Edy's "Caramel Delight" Light Ice Cream
  • 1 banana
  • ice cubes
  • 1/2 packet Nestle Carnation Instant Breakfast, Classic French Vanilla flavor
  • caramel syrup if desired
  • aluminum foil for optional extra step
  1. Step 1

This first step is an optional but a delicious touch. Wrap a ripe banana in aluminum foil. Put it in the freezer for 24 - 48 hours. Take it out, unwrap it and chop it up into ice cube sized slices. To skip this step, simply use a regular ripe banana in the recipe.

  2. Step 2

Put all food ingredients except the caramel syrup into the pitcher part of your mixer. Put the lid on securely, and then blend the mixture for about thirty seconds or until the milkshake is smooth.

  3. Step 3

Pour your milkshake into a milkshake glass. Top with caramel syrup if desired. Enjoy.

Tips & Warnings
  • As soon as you pour the finished milk shake into the glass, fill the pitcher part of the blender with warm water to soak in the sink for easy cleaning later.
  • It is not absolutely necessary to use the brand names I mentioned. I am not affiliated with any of the companies. However, those are the products I use when making this milkshake. If you use a different caramel ice cream, just make sure it has 120 calories or less per 1/2 cup serving.
