San Diego boasts it's all year round 70 degree weather, but it does get chilly at night. There are many wonderful places to go visit during the Thanksgiving holiday that offer art, parade and festivals. Read more to find some wonderful places to visit in San Diego during Thanksgiving.

  1. Step 1
    Coronado Beach
    Coronado Beach

    Visit Coronado. You can visit Coronado by going across the Coronado Bridge or taking the Ferry from downtown San Diego. Coronado is small and you can take the ferry and walk from the ferry landing down Orange Avenue towards the Hotel Del Coronado. Along side the Hotel Del is a pristine beach that you can walk that ends at the NAS North Island military base. There is a Dog Beach, too. Bring a sweat shirt as it can get a little cold in the afternoon at the beach. Located West of San Diego.

    Barona Casino
    Barona Casino

    Casinos. Have brunch at one of the seven casinos in San Diego. Barona, Golden Acorn, Harrahs Rincon, Pala Casino, Penchanga, Sycuan, or Viejas. Many of them have buses that will take you to their casino. Check the casinos website to find out where you can park your car and meet the bus. Some of the larger casinos, like Barona, have a Golf Course, hotel and stores to shop at. Located East and North of San Diego.

    Balboa Park
    Balboa Park

    Museums. Balboa Park is where many of the museums are located, like the Aerospace Museum, Museum of Man and San Diego Model Railroad Museum, to name a few. Park your car and spend the day going from one museum to the other. Don't forget to visit the Gold Fish and tell them I said, Hi. Located the center of San Diego.

    Julian Apple Pie
    Julian Apple Pie

    Festivals. During Thanksgiving week there are many festivals, such as the one in Julian. The Julian Apple Festival runs from Sept 15 through Nov 15th, but you can visit Julian, any time. Julian is a very small town and you will feel as you have gone back in time as you meander through the small shops. Don't forget to get a slice of apple pie. Located East of San Diego.

    Mother Goose Parade
    Mother Goose Parade

    Parade. The Mother Goose Parade in El Cajon is on November 23rd. It is very busy and you should get there early. There are many celebrities that are featured in the parade. Stop by the website to find out more. Located East of San Diego.

    San Diego Zoo
    San Diego Zoo

    Attractions. All the parks will be open and dressed up for the holidays. You can visit the San Diego Wild Animal Park, The San Diego Zoo, Sea World and Legoland. These attractions are very large and you will need to map out a whole day to see everything. The zoo is located next to Balboa Park and the Wild Animal Park and Legoland is to the North and Sea World is West to the beach.

Tips & Warnings
  • Different parts of San Diego can have different temperatures, especially during the fall. The beaches can be cool and the east can be warm during the day, but cold at night. Always bring a sweatshirt with you.
