Make this cute classic for the holidays. This is a quick easy way to make a baked treat on the cheap and use some recyclable items around the house!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 cups of dried raisins and cranberries
  • 4tsp baking soda
  • 4 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 4 cup flour
  • mixing bowl
  • empty 1 lb coffee cans or 10 empty soup cans
  1. Step 1

    Get all of your supplies and ingredients together in the kitchen. Be sure you have 2 days set aside to complete this recipe, there is a step where you must soak fruit overnight.

  2. Step 2

    Pour 2 cups of hot water over the dried raisins, cranberries and baking soda and let it sit overnight in a covered container in the fridge.

  3. Step 3
    Mix well

    Add the other ingredients, mix well and pour into in three 1-pound coffee cans or for smaller individual portions, you can use 10 soup cans that are well oiled with butter or non stick spray on butter.

  4. Step 4

    Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in a pre heated oven. Let cool on a baking rack or heat resistant surface. Once cool, use a butter knife to release the bread from the edges of the can and slide out onto a plate or tray. This is great to be served with egg nog or apple cider especially during Thanksgiving!

  • YOU CAN ADD NUTS, BUT THE POINT IS FOR THIS TO BE CHEAP AND EASY
  • BE SURE THAT YOU TAKE OFF ANY SHARP EDGES FROM THE CAN
