How to Do the Flying Charleston in Tap Dancing
When people were doing the Charleston back in the 1920s, they sometimes became so raucous that a sign was put on in the dance hall reading "P.C.Q.", which meant "Please Charleston Quietly." There is a lot of kicking involved in the Charleston, including in the Flying Charleston step.

1
Scuff your right heel to the front (swipe your heel against the floor in a forward motion), then swing your right leg to the right in an outside fan kick. The fan kick is executed by making a half-circle motion in an outward direction with your leg. Hop on your left leg. Do the scuff, fan kick and hop to the count of "1 2." The scuff and leg swing should be done in one count.

Flap (brush step) on your right foot and hop on your right leg while swinging your left leg to the back. Do this to the count of "a 3 4."
