Choose a location. A living room or den are good options. You can turn your favorite karaoke bar into an "American Idol" stage for the birthday party. If you decide to have the party outside, be sure to have a back-up plan in case of rain.

Create the menu. Have some "Abdul Appetizers" like "Simons in a Blanket" instead of pigs in a blankets and "Randy's Ranch Dip" for veggies.

Decorate using the "American Idol" theme. Posters of the finalists and the judges can be a nice touch. Use miniature microphones to hold the party favors.

Plan the entertainment. Karaoke is a great option, as is a "Judges Impersonation" contest. Set up a competition for a "Worst of Idol" award. Be sure to have plenty music from the finalists of the show to play for your guest.
