Make Sweetheart Candles

Valentine's Day is a time to celebrate that special someone in your life. These sweetheart candles are a snap to make. Wax shapes liven up plain candles and create a beautiful glow to any home. Make a few for gifts, use as a centerpiece for that special candlelit dinner or light a few in the bedroom for a romantic evening.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pillar candles, various sizes Sheets of wax Heart-shaped craft punches, various sizes Tweezers Blow dryer Round mirror Rose petals
  1. Step 1

Lay the sheets of wax. Punch out various sizes and colors of heart shapes from the wax. Set the shapes aside.

  2. Step 2

Hold a heart shape up against a candle, using tweezers. Apply heat to the wax shape with a low-heat blow dryer. Hold the blow dryer about 6 inches from the candle. Once the wax shape starts to adhere to the candle, turn off the blow dryer. Using your fingers, gently press the shape onto the candle. If it doesn't stick well enough, apply more heat with the blow dryer.

  3. Step 3

Add more heart-shaped pieces of wax all around the candle. Alternate colors and sizes if you wish. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for as many candles as you wish to decorate.

  4. Step 4

Place several different-size candles on a round mirror. Scatter rose petals onto the mirror around the base of the candles. This can be used as a centerpiece or a decoration on a coffee table.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use red or pink candles and white or silver heart-shaped pieces of wax for a contrast.
  • Supervise young children if they're helping.
