Build a Star Wars Robot

The Star Wars movies and their robot characters are popular among many people. Finding many different types of robots in the various Star Wars movies is common. Wishing for one of these robots is not an unusual trait among Star Wars fans, and neither is purchasing collector's items from the first or second trilogies. Instead of buying a robot, make one yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold a white piece of regular paper in half. Sketch various knobs, compartments, and screens along the length of the piece of paper. Add any embellishments such as sequins to look like knobs, or aluminum foil for a metallic affect, to create a more realistic look. Curve the paper so that it makes a cylinder with a diameter of about 2 1/2 inches. Glue or tape the ends so that it stays in a cylindrical form.

    • 2

Cut out a circle with a diameter of 3 1/2 inches across. Draw more knobs and other embellishments along the edge of the circle. Cut a straight line from the edge to the center of the circle. This will let you glue one cut edge under the other side so that the paper creates a dome. This is the head of the Star Wars robot.

    • 3

Draw three equal circles on paper. Measure so the circles are about 1 1/2 inches across. Sketch radiating lines or compartments onto these circles. Cut these circles out. Create a dome with each like the head of the robot in the previous step. Cut a small slit in the top of each one where they come to a point. These are the feet of your robot.

    • 4

Attach popsicle sticks to the Star Wars robot. Glue or tape two sticks to the sides of the body of the robot. The sticks should face down and to the back of the cylinder. Cut a one-inch piece of popsicle stick and attach it to the front of the robot so that it is standing on a tripod of sticks.

    • 5

Slide the feet onto the bottom of the popsicle sticks. Glue the feet to the sticks if they do not fit snugly, or cut a bigger hole if they do not slide in. Adjust the feet until the robot stands comfortably on its own.
