How to Take a Picture of Part of a Mac Screen

The latest update of Apple's Mac OS X operating system, also known as Leopard, includes the utility program Grab, which allows users to capture screenshots and save them as image files. With Grab, Mac users can take a picture of their entire screen; in addition, the utility can be used to capture just a small portion of a window. Instructions

1. Open a new Finder window by clicking on the icon in the dock.

2. Navigate to the "Utilities" folder, which can be found in the "Applications" section of the Mac hard drive.

3. Double-click on the "Grab" icon to open the image-capturing program.

4. Go to the "Capture" menu in the top menu bar and choose "Selection."

5. Click your mouse and drag your cursor over the area of the screen that you wish to capture.

6. Let go of your mouse to take the picture. The image file will automatically be saved to your desktop.
