How to Create a 3D Graph on a Mac

The latest release of Apple's Mac OS X operating system, also known as Leopard, includes a full-scale graphing calculator program that can create graphs on both a 2D and 3D axis. The Grapher application includes example graphs, and also allows users to enter their own calculations while customizing the appearance and function. This article explains how to create a new 3D graph using the Grapher application on a Mac.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mac running OS X 10.5 or later
  1. Step 1

    Open a new Finder window by clicking on the icon in the dock.

  2. Step 2

    Navigate to the "Utilities" folder, which can be found in the "Applications" section of the Mac hard drive.

  3. Step 3

    Double-click on the "Grapher" icon to launch the graphic calculator program.

  4. Step 4

    Select the "3D Graph" tab at the top of the Grapher window.

  5. Step 5

    Select a default appearance for your new graph from the list in the Grapher window, then click "Open" to create the new graph.
