1
Mix a bag of ready-mix concrete (or half a bag if the repair isn't too large). Work has to be done quickly to prevent hardening of the concrete mix before the job is finished. Pick up the pointing trowel and load it with ready-mix. Scrape off excess concrete on a board and with your trowel held at an angle parallel to the missing mortar between the old concrete blocks, fill the gap with fresh concrete, finishing off the repair by scraping the point of the trowel to make a smooth edge. Allow to cure.

2
Load the adhesive caulk into the caulking gun and snip off the tip at the desired width. This type of caulk will repair deep cracks in the old concrete block wall that are not fixable with a pointing trowel and when the repair calls for two surfaces to be bonded together. Squeeze the trigger of the caulking gun until a drop of adhesive caulk appears at the tip. Position the tip at the top of the crack in the old concrete block wall and begin squeezing steadily until some of the caulk appears. Keep squeezing gradually filling the entire crack up with adhesive caulking. Wet your fingertip or use a damp cloth to smooth off the edge.

Fill a hole in an old concrete block wall by loading a tube of mortar and concrete caulk into a caulking gun. Snip off tip of tube and squeeze gun trigger until a drop appears at the tip. Start squeezing and fill the hole from the bottom up in a sideways motion. Use plenty of caulk, and read the directions on the tube to find cure times.
