Things You'll Need
- Volumizing hair product
- Relaxing hair product (for curly hair)
- Curling iron with a large barrel
- Hair ties

"Bed Head" Method
-
1
Shampoo and condition your hair in the evening. Instead of using a blow dryer, towel dry to keep your hair from getting damaged. Healthy hair makes for better waves.
-
2
Use a styling product that fits your hair type. If you have straight or slightly wavy hair, apply a volumizing mousse or serum. Work a relaxing product into curly hair to make your curls looser and reduce frizz.

3
Go to sleep with your hair still damp. In the morning, your hair will have the wavy, tousled look.
-
4
Comb through your hair a little with your fingers. Scrunch your hair with some volumizing mousse to hold and define the waves. Or, add more volume by wrapping sections of hair around a curling iron with a large barrel.
Braiding Method
-
5
French braid slightly damp hair. Sleep on it or let it air dry, and when you take out the braid your hair will look naturally wavy.
-
6
Try putting your hair into regular braids. Separate damp hair into two or three sections and braid them. Loose braids will give you subtle waves, and tight braids will make the waves more defined. Let your hair dry completely before taking the braids out.
-
7
Perfect your waves after taking the braids out, by tousling your hair with your hands and applying a volumizing product from the roots to the ends.

Tips & Warnings
If you have thick hair, it may not dry completely on its own when you put it in a French braid. Use a hair dryer on the braid instead. The braiding method works best on straight or slightly wavy hair.
Don't brush or comb your hair after using these techniques, or the waves will come out.
