If you own a Blackberry, you can organize your icons to make them easier to find when you want to use them. You may also want to only display the icons you frequently use and move the others to another folder. This article will show you how to move and organize your application icons on Blackberry models 8820 and 8830.

Instructions

  1. Moving Icons

    • 1

      Go to the main application screen on your Blackberry. Press the key with the RIM/Blackberry icon, immediately to the left of your trackball.

      Choose the icon you want to move by moving the trackball and scrolling to it.

      Click on the key to the left of the trackball to access the "Actions to choose from" list. You can also hold "Alt" while pressing on the trackball, which will take you to the same option window.

      Choose "Move." This will enclose the icon in a small box. If you want to move the "Voice Dialing" icon, for example, the action will be indicated at the bottom of the screen by the text "Moving Voice Dialing."

      Move the trackball up, down, left or right to bring it to the desired location.

      Click the trackball once to save the change--or click on the key to the left of the trackball and choose "Complete Move."

      Choose "Cancel Move" if you do not want to save the move. This will return the icon to its original position.

    Organizing Icons

      Go to the main application screen on your Blackberry. Press the key with the RIM/Blackberry icon, immediately to the left of your trackball.

      Click on the key to the left of the trackball to access the "Actions to choose from" list. You can also hold "Alt" while pressing on the trackball, which takes you to the same option window.

      Choose "Add Folder" from the options.

      Name the folder by typing next to the word "Name."

      Click "Add" to save the folder. It will then show up on your application screen. Click "Cancel" if you do not want to proceed.

      Use your trackball to choose the icon you want to move to the new folder. Leave the trackball on the icon you want to move.

      Click on the key to the left of the trackball to access the "Actions to choose from" list. You can also hold "Alt" while pressing on the trackball, which takes you to the same option window.

      Choose "Move." This will enclose the icon in a small box. If you want to move the "Voice Dialing" icon, the action will re reperesented at the bottom of the screen by the words "Moving Voice Dialing."

      Move the trackball to the new folder you created.

      Press the trackball once or press on the key immediately to the left of your trackball, then choose "Complete Move" to save it.

      Click the folder to see if the icon is there. If it is, the move was successful.

Tips & Warnings

  • Create multiple folders and name them in alphabetical order to keep your application screen clean. Keep only the most commonly used icons outside of the folders.
